EPTV at Oerol 2008
Thursday June 12th, 2008
Here’s what happening: We’re going to have to get up pretty early this Friday in order to catch the ferry to Terschelling. Why? Because El Pino will be playing a couple of exclusive shows at the upcoming Oerol festival! Here’s why you shouldn’t miss out: In addition to the usual suspects we’ll play a bunch of brand new El Pino songs. These shows will mark the debut of our latest addition to the EPTV line-up, Job Roggeveen, on Rhodes and melodica. And Tjirk is coming along as well, effectively completing the line-up!
Our mighty van’s battery is fully charged, as are ours. Hopefully only the latter are completely drained coming Monday. :)
Here’s the schedule:
fri 13/06
Westerkeyn (16.00)
sat 14/06
Reizend Podium (12.00–16.00)
Opium live Radio 1 (19.00-20.00)
(camping) De Kooi (22.00–23.00)
sun 15/06
De Branding (18.00-19.30)
Stay Okay (21.00-23.00)
So, there you have it. Hope to see you all this weekend!
Update
Well, time sure flies, we’re back already. Oerol 2008 was great! Pictures will follow, pinky promise... Tonight we’ll play three shows at De Parade in Rotterdam, with a big football break in between. The schedule: 1915, 2015 & 2230. Come on over!
Status report
Tuesday November 13th, 2007
Hey!
It’s me, the weird-hatted, slowly back-and-forth rocking bass player from El Pino, with a tiny update on EPTV. You haven’t heard from us for a little while, and for a good reason. I’ll elaborate. Work on our second album is taking up pretty much all of our time (heartache is indeed a great inspiration, believe you me). We’re slowly but steadily making progress and are hopefully aiming for a release, somewhere between January 2008 and December 2009… That’s quite a stretch I know, but we want it to be good, so no promises here!
The Dutch Indie Singles Club released a vinyl split single, featuring the amazing Mono and EPTV back in August. Our contribution is the previously unreleased track ‘No one knows a thing these days’ (free mp3), taped during the recordings of Molten City. This Thursday we’ll team up with Mono for a show at Waterfront, Rotterdam (check the site for details and reservations).
Here’s the schedule for this year:
15/11: Waterfront, Rotterdam
17/11: Villa 29, Barnveld
29/11: Speakers, Delft
06/12: Ekko, Utrecht
Don’t miss out now, as it is one of just a few shows left before we go into a state of hibernation.
Take care, Ap out.
Word up!
Tuesday September 4th, 2007
Hi there,
Just poppin’ in to let you know, dear diary, what we’ve been up to lately. We played at De Parade (fun!), Lowlands (fun!) and Vera (fun!), young Mr. Goslink is stepping down a notch (no fun…), and work on the new album is steadily progressing (jay!). Working on new songs even as we speak. And then there’s the Dutch Indie Singlesclub release of a limited edition vinyl-only split single, featuring fellow port city roamers Mono and yours trulies! Our part in this is our previously unreleased song ‘No One Knows a Thing These Days’ (free mp3 download should be available soon) which we recorded one late night during the Molten City sessions. To celebrate the occasion we’re doing a couple of shows with Mono, first of which was at Vera in Groningen, August 30. It took us several hours to get there due to crazed traffic jams, but it was worth every boring minute (in the van, that is). Good crowd, free drinks and comfy beds at the Vera Hotel. Thanks guys!
It was in effect our first long ride without Goslink. As you probably already know by now he’s no longer a full-time Volunteer. He didn’t quit – no Volunteer ever really quits – but time is a precious commodity nowadays. You see, besides being a Volunteer Goslink’s also a painter, cartoonist, illustrator, instrument builder and a begeisterd leader of his very own outfit ‘Harm en z’n Bende’. I needn’t explain to you that all that stuff is hard to combine, especially with El Pino’s busy touring schedule. But, like I said, (cue raspy mafia voice here), nobody ever really quits EPTV. Just like the mighty Duke still occasionally joins us on stage, Goslink will return on stage with us every once in a blue moon.
We’re putting our efforts in writing songs for our second album these next months, so we won’t likely be visiting your town anytime soon. November 15th we’ll share the stage with Mono in Ekko, Utrecht. Until then, take care!
Oerol

Now hear this: Molten City’s been nominated for the 3VOOR12 Award! Vote for EPTV at the people’s poll.
Hi there!
It sure as hell been a while since I last posted here, for which I humbly offer you my apologies. Sorry folks, it’s just been a tad busy for us Volunteers lately (not that we’re complaining, mind you)! So, what have we been up to, you ask? Well, Oerol, amongst others! Should you’ve been living under a rock for the past 25 years, Oerol is a huge contemporary festival held on a picturesque island up north called Terschelling, with an estimated 50.000 visitors over the course of 9 water-soaked days. If you ever get a chance to go, grab it, ‘cause you’ll love it. In fact, we’ve got the pics to prove it. We’ve put up a new photo album, aptly called Summer 2007
We weren’t allowed to bring our beloved van to the island, instead we had to drag along our entire backline with us. But, hey, it’s all part of the fun :)
We got to play no less than 6 shows in 3 days – including performances at Held op Wielen (a truck that could be transformed into a full-featured stage in less than 9 seconds), the main stage at Westerkeyn, a talk show hosted by Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad and a camping bar that managed to come up with the most creative spelling of our band name to date. During that last show we were accompanied by drummer Jeroen Kleijn – a.o. Johan, Spinvis – for the occasion. Not to suck up, but he really did an incredible job that night, memorizing more than an entire set by heart the very same day. Sjeesh, way to go, thanks Jeroen!
To cut a long story short, we had a great time and sure hope to be back next year!
Coming up this Friday: Zoks Festival, Venlo. Hope to see you around! Especially since this is one of the few remaining shows we’re doing this summer (check out the shows page for details), because we’re taking some time off to work on… our new album! That’s right folks, our sophomore effort is on its way! If all goes well our new record will see the light of day early 2008. Jay!
Here comes the summer!
Wednesday May 2nd, 2007
The Molten City tour has been quite a ride and we’ve got the bruises to prove it. Thanks to you all venues were jam-packed, and some even sold out! Check out the photos here. Big thanks goes out to Remco, Freek, Ben & Jaap for their excellent work on sound, lights, merch, stage and general comfort. Also big thanks to Joe, our most honourable booker/tourmanager, and to all venues for letting us play and taking good care of us. But the biggest thanks goes out to all who came around to check us out.
Now it’s time for the summer festivals and I’m happy to report that we’ll be getting our fair share. First stop: Befrijdingsfestival Fryslân 2007, this Saturday. Show starts around 1500hrs and we’d sure appreciate it if you’d stop by. Here’s the complete rundown (so far):
